PlayGround's 20th Anniversary Celebration

PlayGround, the Bay Area’s leading playwright incubator, will mark its twentieth anniversary with a special celebration and performance on Monday evening, September 15 at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, home to the Monday Night PlayGround staged reading series since 2003. Featured that evening will be the top six plays and playwrights selected from nearly 700 developed through the Monday Night PlayGround staged reading series over the past twenty years. Earlier this summer, PlayGround engaged thirty-five members of the PlayGround community (writers, directors, actors, designers, subscribers and supporters) to help narrow the list down and today PlayGround is pleased to acknowledge the 21 playwrights and 24 plays identified as semifinalists for the 20th Anniversary Celebration (see below). The six finalists will be selected from this group by an all-star committee featuring Pulitzer Prize winner Bruce Norris, Cal Shakes Artistic Director Jonathan Moscone, PlayGround Co-Founder Brighde Mullins, distinguished playwright/alumnus Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, and PlayGround Associate Director Annie Stuart. Selections will be announced August 1, 2014. For more information or to purchase advance tickets, visit http://playground-sf.org/events.
