PlayGround's 20th Anniversary Finalists Announced!

And the envelope please! From nearly 700 plays by 200 Bay Area playwrights developed over the past twenty years, PlayGround named last month the 24 semifinalists under consideration for PlayGround’s special 20th Anniversary Celebration, taking place Monday evening, September 15 at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, home to the Monday Night PlayGround staged reading series since 2003. And now, following review by an all-star panel that included Pulitzer Prize winner Bruce Norris, PlayGround co-founder Brighde Mullins and Steinberg Award winner and PlayGround alumnus Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, PlayGround is pleased to announce the six finalists. The plays will be performed at the 20th Anniversary Celebration in PlayGround’s signature Monday Night PlayGround script-in-hand staged reading style, performed by twenty-three leading Bay Area actors. Advance tickets are $15 (a $50 host ticket includes a pre-show VIP reception and priority seating) and can be purchased online at http://playground-sf.org/events.

The 6 finalists are:
Panopticon by Aaron Loeb (2008)
Rapunzel's Etymology of Zero by Katie May (2011)
Net by Geetha Reddy (2009)
Hella Love Oakland by Robin Lynn Rodriguez (2012)
Truffaldino Says No by Ken Slattery (2009)
My Name Is Yin by Tom Swift (2004)

All of the scripts are available through the Best of PlayGround publication series at http://playground-sf.org/publications.shtml and, in celebration of PlayGround’s twentieth anniversary, PlayGround Publications will release a special 20th Anniversary anthology of the six finalists, available via online pre-order and at the September 15 event.
