Aimee Suzara's short plays about gentrification in Oakland, THE HOLD-UP, NOT A CHANCE, and EXILED AT HOME will be directed by Jeffrey Lo and staged at the National One-Minute Play Festival / Z Space's "Moments From The Bubble, Or: How The [Google] Bus Stops Here," a playwright-driven community action project in response to the rapid gentrification of San Francisco, Jun 27 (8PM) - Jun 28 (3PM & 7:30PM).  Also, Aimee's full-length script, A HISTORY OF THE BODY, was a Finalist for the 2015 Bay Area Playwrights Festival. Malachy Walsh’s short animated film, IOWA (based on the Best of PlayGround short play and developed with support from the PlayGround Film Festival), has been selected as one of the ten finalists to be screened and compete for prizes at the HellaShort Film Festival, June 14 at 2pm at HellaCon in Oakland.

After finishing the fun of THE EMPTY NESTERS at the PlayGround Festival, Garret Jon Groenveld will head to New York for his third appearance in the TRU Festival for his play, The Hummingbirds.  The reading will be free to the public on June 22nd reading at Soho Playhouse, for more details and to make a reservation, visit:

Lauren Yee is workshopping KING OF THE YEES at the Playwrights' Center in Minneapolis this month, and she will be a guest panelist at the CityWrights Conference in Miami at the end of this month.

Brian Herndon is playing Thing and the Conquistador Ancestor in THE ADDAMS FAMILY MUSICAL at San Jose Stage, in previews this week. Coming up this fall he’ll be playing Efram in THE NANCE at New Conservatory Theatre Center.

George Maguire is teaching a 6 weeks seminar on Advanced On-Camera Acting for Nancy Hayes Casting. He recently shot a new web series and a CISCO corporate. 

Michael Barrett Austin just finished Best of PlayGround 19, and will soon begin rehearsing for Project Ahab; or, Eye of the Whale at Central Works. It plays July 18-August 23.

Cindy Goldfield is opening LOVE AND INFORMATION at ACT’s new Strand Theatre. 

Rosie Hallett is rehearsing Top Girls at Shotgun Players, which will run July 2 through August 9.

Robert Sicular is continuing in the smash hit One Man, Two Guvnors at Berkeley Rep, now extended through June 28th. Also, at the end of the month he starts rehearsals for Soren Oliver's Demetrius Unbound at the Live Oak Theatre in Berkeley.

Teddy Spencer is currently in rehearsal for the World Premiere of WILL SHAKESPEARE'S LONG LOST FIRST PLAY (ABRIDGED), a co-production between the Napa Valley and Notre Dame Shakespeare Festivals, written and directed by Reed Martin and Austin Tinchenor. It opens June 25 in St. Helena, and travels to South Bend, IN for the month of August.

Nancy Carlin is directing a staged reading of Madeleine George’s THE (CURIOUS CASE OF THE) WATSON INTELLIGENCE for Shotgun Players. Performs June 8 and 9 at Ashby Stage. 

Madeline Puccioni's MIDNIGHT AT LA CATRINA will be done by 3Girls Theatre in its REPRO RIGHTS - WOMEN @ RISK show on August 6 at Thick House.  Her ten-minute play, WONDER PEOPLE, will be produced by Chicago's 906 THEATRE in its ECHOES OF...  show in August.    Madeline will have a solo show, MAD 10'S, on 6/27 as a fundraiser for 3rd Street Playhouse, where she is now Head Writer, at CCDX CO, 3800 3rd Street, San Francisco.

Colin Johnson will be acting in the world premiere of Barry Giffords new play Writers on Sunday June 7, as part of the Bay Area Book Festival. He will also be directing and acting for Shotz: 1999 at Pianofight on Wednesday June 10.

Will Dao is enjoying his first season with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival where he opens ANTONY & CLEOPATRA June 12 (running through October 9). He also understudies several roles in SECRET LOVE IN PEACH BLOSSOM LAND (running through October 31) and will be going on as Master Yuan/Man in White June 2! Drop him a line if you are in town!
