Ruben Grijalva's VALUE OVER REPLACEMENT to Premiere at PlayGround Festival!

VOR Productions in association with PlayGround is proud to present the world premiere of VALUE OVER REPLACEMENT by Ruben Grijalva, June 13-July 10, at Thick House as part of the 20th annual PlayGround Festival of New Works (http://playground-sf.org/festival). Previews are June 13 & 14 and Opening is June 15. Value Over Replacement provides an insightful look at America’s favorite pastime and the choices players face to stay in the game. At 5’7”, 160 lbs, light-hitting shortstop turned drive-time sports radio host, Edward “Chip” Fuller is hardly the poster-boy for baseball’s steroid era. But when he learns his name will appear on a list of players linked to performance enhancing drugs, Chip is forced to explain his choice to colleagues, his listeners, and his family. In doing so, he must choose between a bland public apology and a much more difficult confession: that if he had it to do over again, he wouldn't change a thing. Grijalva’s Value Over Replacement was originally commissioned and developed as part of the 2014 PlayGround Festival. A 2015 O’Neill National Playwrights Conference finalist, Value Over Replacement was recently awarded an Edgerton Foundation New Play Award. Directed by PlayGround Artistic Director Jim Kleinmann, the premiere features Jomar Tagatac, Melissa Ortiz, Alex Shafer, Martha Brigham, Stephanie Prentice, and Christian Haines (an Equity-approved project). Tickets are $25-$45 and All-Festival Passes start at just $80. For tickets and more information, visit http://playground-sf.org/vor.

Ruben Grijalva (Playwright) earned his BA in Cinema from San Francisco State and helped start the fitness-entertainment company Virtual Active. His works include the award-winning short film Shadow Ball, the full-length multimedia play Foresight, and short plays Value Over Replacement and Mr. Wong’s Goes to Washington, both Best of PlayGround selections. His full-length Value Over Replacement was commissioned and developed by PlayGround (2014), and named a 2015 O’Neill Natl Playwrights Conference finalist and 2016 Edgerton Foundation New Play Award winner.

Jim Kleinmann (Director/Co-Producer) co-founded PlayGround in 1994 and has served as Artistic Director since 1996.  For PlayGround, he has provided artistic and administrative leadership for the past twenty seasons, developing PlayGround’s unique array of new playwright and new play incubator programs, including Monday Night PlayGround, the Best of PlayGround Festival, the full-length play Commissioning Initiative, the New Play Production Fund, and most recently the PlayGround Film Festival.  During his tenure, he has directed more than 150 short plays by some of the Bay Area’s best new playwrights, including Lauren Yee, Geetha Reddy, Aaron Loeb, Trevor Allen, and Garret Jon Groenveld, among others, and has commissioned and developed over 61 full-length plays by these writers. Kleinmann is a veteran arts administrator with more than twenty years of experience, including stints leading Traveling Jewish Theatre, Smuin Ballet and Berkeley Symphony. He is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama.

PlayGround (Co-Producer), the Bay Area’s leading playwright incubator, provides unique development opportunities for the Bay Area’s best new playwrights, including the monthly Monday Night PlayGround staged reading series, PlayGround Festival of New Works, Best of PlayGround, full-length play commissions and support for the production of new plays by local playwrights through the New Play Production Fund and, PlayGround’s newest initiative, the PlayGround Film Festival. To date, PlayGround has supported nearly 200 local playwrights in the development and staging of over 750 original short plays and 61 new full-length plays, including more than eighteen that have since premiered in the Bay Area and around the country. PlayGround alumni have gone on to win local, national and international honors for their short and full-length work, including recognition at the O’Neill National Playwrights Conference, Humana Festival, Sundance Festival, the Lark, Bay Area Playwrights Festival, Internationalists Playwriting Prize, and New York International Fringe Festival, among others.  More information at http://PlayGround-sf.org.

  3. Christian Louboutin Marianna HoboI really wish that I liked Christian Louboutin bags. I really WANT to like them. I like the brand’s shoes quite a bit, probably christian louboutin boots more so than any other well-known brand. But more often than not, whenever I see one of their bags, my gut reaction is decidedly “meh.” And that’s exactly what I think about the Christian Louboutin Marianna Hobo. The bag isn’t BAD, per christian louboutin store se, unless you count blandness among the cardinal design sins. It’s just boring, and I’d almost rather see an ugly bag with a lot of personality than a middling bag with very little. This bag does have one positive design aspect, jimmy choo shoes however – the handle. Instead of being a single chain that must support the weight of an entire shoulder bag, Louboutin attached multiple chains side-by-side to retain the industrial look without making the bag painful to carry. It’s a great solution red bottoms shoes on sale to the irritation of a single chain strap digging into your shoulder under the weight of a full bag, but it doesn’t sacrifice fashion in order to gain function. Now if only I could say such nice things about the rest authentic christian louboutin outlet of the purse. Buy through Saks for $1595.
I miss a lot of things about college, and the crossword puzzle from the University of Georgia student newspaper is probably a lot higher up on that list than you’d expect. It was christian louboutin the perfect level of difficulty – I could finish it in about 45 minutes and feel challenged while still ultimately being victorious. Related: 45 minutes was approximately the length of one lecture class period at UGA. Over my four years there, christian louboutin I did hundreds of them.Getting your news online brings with it a noticeable lack of crossword puzzles, which has left a sad little gap in my procrastination habits since 2008. The Christian Louboutin Cleo Sequined Satin Clutch isn’t literally a crossword christian louboutin sale puzzle in the same way that Louboutin has made literal tape measure shoes, but when I squint, it’s close enough for me.There are a few things about this clutch that I really appreciate, above and beyond its at-a-distance resemblance to a christian louboutin outlet word game that I enjoy. First, I like the square sequins. Fashion has been filled with paillettes and glitter and rhinestones for what seems like the last five years (but is probably more like the last year and a half), but giuseppe zanotti sneakers
